The archaeologist’s job is to breathe life into fugitive survivals from the past. Some objects have been passed down to us through centuries of guardianship, but are now only a ghost of what they once were; others have been lost and are only known about through contemporary poetic references or depictions. The Glenmorangie Research Project has worked with artists, craftspeople and digital technology to re-create and animate objects from Early Medieval Scotland allowing us to experience them as whole and in context for the first time in over 1,000 years. Through recreation we have revealed the Creative Spirit of a past people and opened a window into a different world. Find out more at
